It's been a while

It's been quite a while since I posted but I just wasn't quite as into it and it all felt slightly forced.

Anyhoo I'm back now with lots of idea's to sort out my 'stuck in a rut' life which will hopefully lead to a happier family life.

I won't bore you (for now) with the details as such.

This is just a little note to say I'm back and you will be hearing from me x

#PottyWatch Day 3

Day 3 #PottyWatch

It was quite a good day today, although I think both sleeping and eating habits have been affected by the potty training. The sleep as she's found it all a bit upsetting and the food as she's made herself constipated (which isn't unusual for her).

To start the day off in a happy mood I let her pick her own clothes which was unsuprisingly a dress, but not just any dress. It was her Mrs Christmas dressing up outfit. I thought 'oh what the heck' and so a happy girl we had.

My sister popped down with my four year old niece which in hindsight probably wasn't the best thing to do as she was in no mood for sharing.

We did do lots of fun things to try and take her mind off things. Having tweeted and taken to Facebook I was faced with a lot of people telling me that perhaps she's not ready for potty training, which I admit to having a bit of a wobble with today. I know she's ready. She gets terribly upset when she does the tiniest of dribbles in her pull-ups and is very aware when she is doing wee's and poo's.

We're used to our tiny little girl being a defiant little thing. She's been stubborn and hard to break with every change since she was born. The biggest thing we've overcome is her sleeping which unfortunately has been upset since Monday but we're hopeful that this is going to be temporary.

I just know that once she get's going she will be absolutely fine and it will just become second nature.

I hope........

#PottyWatch - Day 2

Well today has been a very long and unproductive day as far as the potty training is concerned. Isabelle is definitely holding onto her wee's and then having the most enormous unstoppable ones which she tells me about just as she starts to do.

We did, however make a homemade reward chart this morning which she really enjoyed making. She's mad for Minnie Mouse so I drew the outline of Minnie (including the bow of course) and then drew circles onto it. We have some Minnie Mouse stickers and each time she deposits into her potty she gets a chocolate button and a sticker to go onto her chart.

I took to facebook and Twitter yesterday for a bit of advice and somebody suggested rewarding a bigger prize for every 20 stickers on the chart. I did think that this was a bit excessive and that I would end up giving her a few I.O.U's for toys at the end of it, but at the end of today we managed 1 sticker on the chart!

I feel mentally exhausted and I think the whole experience is taking it's toll on Isabelle who has had more than her fair share of tears and tantrums today. I know that many people will be thinking that maybe she isn't quite ready for potty training, but with everything we've done since birth Isabelle has been a hard nut to crack and I just know that once she gets over the initial few wee's on the potty that she will fly.

Reward Chart Fun

We managed a quick trip to the shop down the road for some emergency washing up liquid and I had thought that the cold air would mean that we would return with wet trousers, but she managed the trip there and back with no problems.

Hey Ho for tomorrow's events!

Tip - Potty training is not for skirts. Trousers are much better at catching the wee's so that it eliminates as much as possible accidents onto the floor.

#PottyWatch Day 1

We tried Potty Training a few months back as Isabelle was showing all the signs of being ready. Telling me when she needed to have number 1's and number 2's and wanting to be changed as soon as the deed was done. Unfortunately due to illness we had to give up at that point.

So I've taken this week off work so that we can camp out at home and be at the ready for catching those wee's and poo's.

We've chatted about it over the past week so it wouldn't be so much of a shock when we started doing it. This morning started off quite positively as Daddy bought her a new red dress yesterday which she was going to wear with her matching red Minnie Mouse Knickers.

Her usual morning routine is to have her milk and then she normally does an enormous wee, so I was prepared for this and played on the floor so that at the given time she could be quickly deposited onto the potty. She attempted several times to put on a pair of pull-up pants so in the end we had to hide these away.

I've been like a stuck record today with the repeated tune of "Do you need a wee-wee?" met by the predictable "NO".

The BIG wee happened by the play kitchen whilst she looked down to watch it trickle all over the floor. This was followed by lots of tears and tantrums as the red dress was sodden and had to be taken off. However, this was the one and only wee accident of the day.

I should  be pleased, but I fear that this lack of accidents was because she was holding it in.

After a much needed nap she was raring to go and I didn't have a battle with her wanting to put a pull-up back on.

Daddy got home from work and she was all excited telling him about her wee's on the potty. That was when I noticed the lump!

She had done a number 2 in her pants. I know that this is going to be an issue for a while as she's quite conscious about doing them in her nappy let alone in a potty. After scooping the said mess into a nappy bag which in hindsight I could have just emptied into the toilet we were set to go again.

Cue the First Funny Story - We were playing and I stood in something which turned out to be a little stray poo which must have escaped. So I'm now known as "Poo-Foot".

Lovely

Kids Say the Funniest Things!

I have to share this story which we're still laughing about at the moment.

We went to Tesco's the other day and Ribena was on special offer so I bought a couple of bottles.

When we got home this is the converstation I had with my two year old daughter:

Before you read it might make more sense if you know that Big Brother is called Ryan and we often shorten this to Ry.

Me: Isabelle, Do you want some Ribena?

Isabelle: It's Not Rys-Bena is My-Bena?

Me: Ok. Do you want some My-Bena?

Isabelle: It's not Your-Bena Mummy, it's My-Bena?

Me: OK. Would you like a drink of Ribena?

Isabelle: Mummy it's not Rys-Bena its for everybody. You have to share!!!

So from now on we called it Bena or we get into the same conversation which for once is a loosing battle on my part.

Sorry for the neglect

It's been a while since I last posted which is mainly due to me withholding thoughts and feelings which I may regret saying or writing out loud.

Thing's haven't quite gone to plan of late but I won't bore you with the details. It's work related and I'm hoping that there may be some light at the end of a very long tunnel. At least I'm hoping so!

I can't believe that we've already stomped our way part through February.

The weather is as depressing as ever, moreso as we seem to be one of the only parts of the country that didn't get snow and therefore no snowman making, snowball fights or the like.

The light at the end of my tunnel at the moment is that the OH and I have decided that 2014 is the year that we're going to finally get married.

This means that this blog will undoubtedly become a wedding blog so I apologise in advance. Hopefully you won't find me too boring.

We don't have a huge budget (or in fact any target budget) but I really don't want to be splurging on what ultimately is just ONE day. We live as a married couple with two kids in tow already so I'm hoping to find some great ideas and make them my own for a fraction of the price. I will be well and truly be putting my creative head on to make the day special without the ridiculous cost.

I've had a peek at a few sights and have been squinting in shock at the price tag.

WARNING -  I have the potential to turn into BRIDEZILLA!
